Getting Started

Membership is free.  Once you join you can post and/or search for trailers and campers on Trailer Swap USA .

Creating an account is easy. You can even sign in using an existing Facebook or Google account.

As of right now, Trailer Swap USA does not currently offer an official mobile app. We are constantly striving to improve and scale the platform to accommodate needs.  We do plan on having a mobile app available in the future.

For now you can access TrailerSwapUSA.com with your internet browser. Built using responsive design, you will be presented with a layout that fits your screen size.

All TrailerSwapUSA.com features are available on mobile/tablet sizes as well.

Help for Owners

We are glad that you are interested in listing your trailer or camper with us! We accept any kind of legally tow-able trailer – utility, cargo, livestock, ATV, flatbed, 5th wheel, as well of all kinds of campers that are towable.

If you need further help, please send us a message to support@trailerswapusa.com and we will guide you through our onboarding process.

You will need to create an account on TrailerSwapUSA.com and your listing directly on our website.

Finally, you will enter your payout information so that you can accept your rental or sales transactions.

There are multiple ways to ensure your listing(s) receive the most publicity possible:

  • The first step is to make sure your Trailer Swap USA profile is fully filled out with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation in mind. 
  • After that, the most important step is to include great photos of your trailer or camper. They are your salesman of the year! Photos of the exterior from multiple angles along with photos of the interior will perk interest. Make sure you have at least 5 to 10 great pictures of your trailer or camper with an uncrowded background. Trailers and campers with inspiring, well-composed shots have up to 50% more traffic than the ones with mediocre shots.
  • Finally, a written description of the trailer or camper presented in the listing will give renters a better understanding of your trailer and why they should rent it.
  • To gain more interest, you should also share your trailer listing link(s) on social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even your own website. The more you advertise, the more your trailer will be seen! 

Transactions on Trailer Swap USA are powered and secured with Stripe payment processing, the most trusted payment solution in the industry.

You need to set up your payout information by entering your bank account information in the payment section of your account: https://market.trailerswapusa.com/en/USERNAME/settings/payments.

To add your bank details, you should:

  • Log in your account in the Trailer Swap USA marketplace
  • From the top bar, go to user settings 
  • Go to the Payments tab
  • Select Bank account
  • Fill the form to add your bank details: your legal name, your country, your address and your bank account number
  • Save your bank details.

That’s it! A success message should now be visible and your can now collect payment in the Trailer Swap USA marketplace and receive money when a transaction happens.

Is there any risk to add my bank details?

No, Trailer Swap USA doesn’t store this data (it is hosted by Stripe, our payment provider, the most trusted payment solution in the industry). Trailer Swap USA does not have access to your banking information.

Reminder: Once a renter has entered a payment authorization, you first need to accept it. 

Your payment will be sent after the rental is completed. You will receive the money within one business day after one of the following actions occurs:

  • The transaction is manually marked as completed by the customer.
  • The transaction is automatically marked as completed by the platform two days after the rental date.

You are the one setting up the pricing of your trailer or camper, we recommend checking your local market prices to be competitive and increase your booking chances. 

While deciding on pricing, keep in mind Trailer Swap USA takes a 15% commission of each booking or sale. You will be paid the remaining 85% of the balance, which is transferred to the trailer owner’s bank account. 

Important: All owners need to set up their Trailer Swap USA account prior to accepting any booking request. Entering accurate bank account/payout information will ensure that once each rental period is completed, the funds will transfer seamlessly.

Once the rental period is completed, funds will be accessible in your bank account within 3 business days.

Help for Renters and Buyers

Here is an overview of the process:

1) Sign up for an account at market.trailerswapusa.com.

2) Find the trailer or camper that you would like to rent in the listings page. You’ll notice that while most trailers are available for use on a per-day basis, some have a “contact us” mention, meaning the owner needs more information before being able to give you a quote.

3) Click on the trailer or camper to view more pictures and information about its location and its owner.

4) If you have questions, send the owner a message by pressing “Contact” on the trailer’s page.

5) Once you are satisfied with the trailer or camper, select the dates or hours you are interested in, press “Request to Book”, and follow through with the payment steps.

5) Your booking will be confirmed, and the money transferred when the owner accepts the reservation. If he does not respond within three days of your request, the transaction is canceled.

6) Once you have booked the trailer or camper, you will receive instructions from the owner and the Trailer Swap USA Team.

Each owner will arrange pick-up and drop-off locations with the renter.

Trailer Swap USA will send you a confirmation email with his address along with any other relevant information about the rental. 

Please sort out any questions or special requests with the owner prior to booking. 

Note: Some owners may charge a delivery fee for driving the trailer or camper to your desired location.

If you do not hear from the owner within 24 hours of payment, send them a message, and contact us at support@trailerswapusa.com

How do we handle cancellations?

Everyone can change their minds, if you decide to cancel your reservation, please contact us right away by emailing support@trailerswapusa.com.

We offer a full refund of the rental fee until 15 days prior to your rental date and a 50% refund until 72 hours in advance. The full balance is due after that. Please note that the service fee (5%) covering payment processing fees is non-refundable. 

We do not offer refund for same-day rental.

Cancellation by the Owner

If the trailer or camper owner has to cancel your reservation, he will inform us and we will provide a replacement option or a full refund.

No, your credit/debit card number is not stored after the transaction is processed on Trailer Swap USA.

Insurance & Safety

FOR RENTERS

Like renting a modern rental car, you are responsible for all damage to the trailer or camper. Check with your insurance company and your credit card company to see what additional comprehensive coverage is offered from them.

  • All drivers must have proof of their private automobile insurance. Once your reservation is accepted, you will be asked to provide a proof of insurance for the rental. Due to the way the insurance industry works, all renters must carry their own comprehensive and collision damage policies.

FOR OWNERS

Owner must maintain insurance policies on the trailer or camper that provide protection against bodily injury and property damage to third parties at levels of coverage that meet minimum insurance levels required by law.

Don’t send them money, and immediately let us know. We consider our relationship with our owners to be mutually beneficial and based on shared trust.

This requirement helps protect our users from fraud, potential risk, and other liabilities. By keeping payment and messaging on the platform, we can help ensure your safety.

Any transaction performed outside the platform will not be guaranteed by Trailer Swap USA.

Building a community of “Trailer Loving Individuals” is one of our priorities.  We strongly encourage you to review your counterpart after you completed a rental.

After a rental, both the trailer owner and the renter can review each other. 
It consists of a positive or negative rating (thumbs up or down) and a free-form text comment.  You can choose not to give feedback to the other party.  However, you can’t refuse a review from the other side after a completed transaction.

Reviews are visible to everyone on each user’s profile page.  A trailer owner rating (percentage of positive ratings and number of ratings) is also shown on each listing page.
